Department Information

  Bryan Ohio is located in Williams County which borders Indiana and Michigan. We are the county seat and have a population of approximately 9,000 residents.

  Many people may recognize Bryan for Ohio Art which makes the Etch and Sketch and Spangler Candy Company which manufactures dum-dums.  To learn more about Bryan please check our links page.  

  AUTHORIZED DEPARTMENT STRUCTURE

• Chief of Police

• Captain

• 4 Sergeants (currently operating with 3)

• 13 Patrol Officers (includes two assigned to detectives, one assigned to a drug unit)

• 5 Police/fire dispatchers

• Police Reserves

• 2 Records/Leads clerk

• Secretary

*authorized strength twenty police officers. 

 Officers may be assigned to other duties. 

• Two officers are assigned to the detective section.

• One officer is assigned to the multi area drug task force

• One officer is assigned to community relations and helps cover the road as needed...Community Relations Officer reassigned to the road full time in addition to conducting safety programs, 6/13/2005

In addition to handling the road officers are also assigned additional duties. Some examples are:

• Police K-9 unit

• Firearms instructor

• ASP baton instructor

• Evidence 

• Supervisor of police reserves  

• Taser instructor

  The police-fire dispatchers handle all 9-1-1 calls that are made within the City of Bryan. EMS calls are transferred to Central Communications for dispatching.  All calls for the Bryan Fire Department are handled by our dispatchers.
